Just a little list I felt like doing, my criteria is that I'm only including and reviewing the six games that exist in the canon storyline, you got lucky Soulcalibur Lost Swords!

1: Soulcalibur IV. In my opinion, this is the best Soulcalibur game so far, with practically flawless gameplay, captivating stories and an interesting transition into the Star Wars universe, however, the game is able to hold on it's own merits without relying on the presence of Darth Vader and Master Yoda to be an interesting game, it's also a great game for the new comers to the series.

2: Soulcalibur II. Soulcalibur 2 was an absolute joy to play, with the perfect pick up and playability to easily get right in to it, the arcade mode is spot on and the Weapon Master story mode is very well put together, it's worth noting that this is the first game in the series to use guest characters, with a different character on each system: Tekken's Heihachi for the PS2, Spawn for the Xbox and Link for the Game Cube.

3: Soulcalibur III. SC3 like the previously mentioned games had perfect gameplay and story mode, but this one falters a little as it feels like they tried to jam too much into it, I'm not a completionist by any means, however one thing I will normally go hell for leather to try and do is unlock every character in a game, and Soulcalibur III just has too many characters, as well as the main characters there are discontinued characters such as Hwang, as well as a large number of filler characters who we never see again aside from cameos in SC4. For me that hurt an otherwise perfect game.

4: Soul Edge/Soul Blade. This is the first game in the series, an excellent port of the arcade game, and a pretty nice touch of where the characters that come from Asia speak Japanese and the ones from Europe speak English.

5: Soulcalibur. The first game to come after Soul Edge, while one of the best games on the Dreamcast according to... I believe it was ScrewAttack, and I'm inclined to agree, as like before the control is flawless and a joy to play, but it does that thing where they didn't hire voice actors to dub over the Japanese voices, that's something that bothers me in games, it's the same with Arcana Heart and some of the "grunt" noises in Sonic Adventure 2, however it's by no means game breaking.

6: Soulcalibur V. SC5 is not a bad game, as a standalone title, the gameplay is as smooth as ever and the character creation is the best it's ever been. But the game was ruined for many people because of the roster and story mode, the reason being the story has jumped forward by about 20 years and focus has shifted to Sophitia's children, particularly Patrocolos, who is an annoying brat, and the characters the long time fans have come to love are either absent or have been replaced by who we can only assume are their children or apprentices, with the few returning characters existing only to fill the roster, there was also an extra slot for a DLC character, but who did they pick? Surely fan favourite Talim right? The 15 year old who is still up to fight 20 year later? No, as the ultimate kick in the balls the character we were given was the most unpopular character in the series, Danpiere! And not only that he has the worst stats of all the characters! A waste of £2!

I remember playing Soulcalibur on the Dreamcast. It was a fantastic game.
As for Soulcalibur II, I played my copy of the game to destruction. Literally, I played it until my PS2 couldn't read the disc anymore.
All the others, I'm not such a fan of them, with the exception of Soulcalibur IV which was pretty fun and satisfying to play, given the increased capabilities of the PS3.
